I fly to Manila yearly to visit my mom. We were there last April, flew to Vietnam for 10 days then back to Manila to finish errands. We were not planning to go to the beach but squeezed in a last minute trip to Bohol since a trip to the Philippines would not be complete without a beach trip. We booked a flight from Manila to Tagbilaran (less than 1 1/2 hour flight) and stayed a night at the Amarela Resort on Panglao Island. It was our first time there and it was incredible.
The serene and lush Amarela Resort. I saw only 2 other couples at the resort and felt like we had the place to ourselves.
Bliss is ....swimming in the warm ocean water and blending into the slow relaxed rhythm of Bohol. I felt like I was in heaven.
There are many activities ....seeing the tarsiers, visiting the Chocolate Hills, fire fly viewing. More here
Since our stay was short, we chose to spend our time lounging on the beach then woke up early the next day to go dolphin watching. I am not a morning person and the thought of waking up at the crack of dawn when I am on vacation is as appealing as going to the dentist, but seeing the dolphins was worth it.
We booked the 1 1/2 hour private tour through our hotel which cost about $40. For the first hour, we were clustered with other boats sailing towards whatever direction the dolphins were swimming. After awhile, being with the other boats felt like a race.
The magic happened when our guide went further away from the rest of the boats till we were alone. Dolphins were frolicking, jumping and making mesmerizing joyful sounds as they disappeared into the vast blue horizon. Absolute wonder!
Watching the beautiful sunset. Our trip was short but unforgettable...the beach is magical.
