Ever since I watched the movie Empire of the Sun in the 80's featuring a young Christian Bale (who looks as intense as then as he does today) residing in 1930's Shanghai, I have wanted to visit the city. I love the cinematography and envisioned a bustling metropolis filled with inspiring European and Chinese architecture.
I was not disappointed.....
Reminiscing about a trip to Venice in 2010. It was evident in the magnificent architecture that this was once one of the most powerful republics and the center of commerce and art. I can imagine those couture clad courtesans wearing their towering chopines strolling around the piazzas. The place was packed with tourists, but Venice and its Lagoon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was breathtaking, splendid and as cliche as it sounds .....romantic.
I was recently looking through photos and found shots of our trip to Rome in 2010. Peter and I were walking aimlessly filled with joy and excitement that we were in one of the most fascinating cities. Absolute travel bliss.
Our guide to Mexico City...the art filled, tree lined metropolis full of architectural masterpieces buzzing with creative energy.
