Thinking of my Dad on his death anniversary. This portrait of him really means a lot to me.
In his last hours at the hospital, he got an unexpected visit from his friend and one of his favorite artists, Tam Austria with his wife and daughter. (I still don’t know how they knew that Dad was in the hospital that evening since we had just been there a few hours.) Dad was very weak by then but when Mr Austria drew the portrait and showed it to him, Dad had a big smile and for a few moments he didn’t seem sick. He was very happy with his sketch as he loved art. Mr Austria was one of his last visitors and Dad passed the next day.
I can’t believe it’s been 12 years. Whenever I see his portrait, which I look at everyday, I remember a caring father who did his best and I miss him.
